Most Wanted - Chapter 5

The worst is yet to come

Lightning, Sheriff, Mater and Erik were driving towards Radiator Springs, once they got there, Mater pulled Erik into the ‘jail-house’ and then closed the gate.
    “Do you really think a little fence is going to stop me?” Erik asked.
    “No, but the FBI is glad to take it over from us.” Sheriff sayed.
    “You called the FBI?” Lightning asked.
    “I knew that you were going to catch him this time, so I called the FBI to come and pick him up.” Sheriff sayed.
    “In other words, you called them to take it over.” Lightning sayed.
Sheriff did do that, but he denied everything, Lightning just looked at him with his eyes half closed, so did Mater and Erik.
    “Now if you don’t mind, I have a prisoner to watch.” he sayed.
    “You go do that, then I can finally take some rest. You made me miss 2 days of sleeping!” Lightning sayed.
    “I guess the boss was right, you are little minded.” Erik sayed.
    “Boss? What boss?” Lightning asked.
    “Yeah, the boss. He is the one who send that Hyundai to take care of you, but I guess he wassn’t very good with his time.” Erik sayed.
    “Wait, that guy was also send by this ‘boss’?” Lightning asked.
    “Enough talking already, son, let me take care of this, you just go and take some rest.” Sheriff sayed.
    “No, Sheriff. I want to know more about this guy, who is he and where does he come from?” Lightning asked.
    “I don’t know who he is, I just got a call from him if I wanted to make big money, then he sayed he wanted me to destroy you.” Erik sayed.
    “Why? Why does he want to destory me?” Lightning asked.
    “Son! Listen! He is just making things up, just go rest and forget about him and what he just sayed.” Sheriff sayed.
Although Lightning wanted to know more, he listened to what Sheriff sayed and drove to his cone to get some rest, Mater also drove back to his house in the junkyard.
When Lightning got to his cone, Sally came driving towards him.
    “Hey, Stickers!” she called.
Lightning turned around, then he saw her smiling brightly, but once she got a look at him, it turned into a concerned face.
    “Are you alright?” she asked.
    “I don’t know, everything has been so strange lately, the Element, the cars......” Lightning sayed.
    “Maybe you’ll feel better after a drive?” Sally asked.
    “Sorry, Sally. But right now, I really want to get some sleep.” Lightning sayed.
Sally understud, she drove over to Flo’s to get a drink.
Lightning drove into his cone and closed the door, then he started thinking about what has happend for the past few weeks. The race in Amsterdam where he met his parents, the possession by Spatula, the race against the holders of the Time Element, and now a Lotus who was even faster then him.
Suddenly he rememberd what Sheriff sayed, that a Lotus could never be faster then him, could it be that Erik also had a Element?
He drove out of his cone, then he drove towards the ‘jail-house’, when he to there, he saw that he was already to late. Erik was gone, he was taken by the FBI, who was transporting him away with a huge truck. He did however still see him, and he was yelling something at him.
    “I’ll be back, Lightning! And then, i’ll destory you!” he sayed.
Lightning did believe him a little, he watched him as he disapeared into the desert, he was hoping however, that he wassn’t coming back.
That night, he was dreaming about what Erik sayed, the words kept on repeating themselfs in his mind.
    “The boss.... destory you.... i’ll be back....” he heard.
This kept on going the whole night, and when he woke up he was glad it was over. But something was telling him, that the worst was yet to come.
